Uploaders take notice, from now on please make standard 5kmono .ra file and mpeg3 instead of 16k.ra files. See updated instructions.
If this is your first trip to sugarmegs,
please take a few minutes to read through the
info for first time visitors
before you email us with 'how to' questions.
Also check out the brand new SugarMegs FAQ page.
We're pretty busy maintaining the page on our spare time, so it's hard
for us get to all of the help email.
Why is it so hard to ftp files from sugarmegs?
The new Java Interface to SugarMegs is online. Data is still being loaded. Search by song title! Check it out!. Thanks to the considerable efforts of Adam Conover!
We still really need some help entering data to this interface...can you spare some time? Please get in touch with Adam.
You need the RealAudio player to listen to these sounds, and a 28.8 modem or better to listen in real time.
All of the 5k mono entries are available via anonymous ftp
here.
All of the higher bandwidth entries (mostly 16k stereo) are available via anonymous ftp
here. There is a daytime limit of 10 users.
Some (eventually all) entries have an ftp download entry in the table. This is just
a direct link to that file from the above locations. You can
use this to download the .ra file to your computer, so you can download and listen
to the 16k stereo files even if you have a slow line. It will take
a while (about 6 times longer than real time for a 28.8 connection) but it's worth it! This
is a very popular feature, so if you get shut out, keep trying, or use our
mirror sites.
- for windows/unix Netscape users, hold the right mouse button down over
the link and select "Save Link As..."
- for Mac Netscape users, hold the mouse button down over
the link for a few seconds and select "Save Link As..."
- I would guess that this works for MS Internet Explorer too, but I don't have it so I'm not sure.
Can someone confirm this?

You can add music
to this collection over the net and help build an
internet music archive!
Did you know that you can encode an Ra file at home (for free) and play it locally without a server?
